Telecasting Techniques

The Media Club as its first engagement invited Mr. Chevaan Daniel, the well known TV personality- an inspiring, entertaining and dynamic speaker, to address the students on the power of the media  on Wednesday November 30th 2016.
Chevaan, who is well-known as a charismatic and compelling speaker , enjoyed  interaction with the audience  from start to finish relating thought - provoking  and at times real life applications and analogies which was followed by a very interesting question and answer session.

Cyberhive 2014 ~ ICT Day

The ICT Society of Stafford International School organized it's inaugural ICT day on the 20th of February 2014 at the school premises. The day consisted of a presentation on social networking, short movie, presentation on cyber security by the guest of honor, Mr Boshan Dayaratne, motivation speech by the chief guest, Mr. Dananjaya Hettiarachchi and a quiz competition.

Bhakthi Gee

Children from Year 01 –Year 05, along with staff members,  participated in a Bhakthi Gee programme which was telecast by Sirasa on Wesak & Poson..

The Primary Art Exhibition

The Art exhibition held during the 30th of June and the first of July, was  an excellent display of colour talent and creative work. The children’s exhibits ranging from paintings, graphic art to craft, adorned and transformed the school auditorium into a beautiful world of imagination.

RELIGIOUS DAY Programme

Untitled Document Religion constitutes an integral part of the school curriculum as we believe that it is crucial in fostering ethical values in our students. Every school day commences with religious observances under the guidance of teachers  belonging to different religions. Many religious activities are held through out the year culminating in the Annual Religious Programme.

A)   PROGRAMME FOR BUDDHIST’S.
This Annual event coincided with the Vesak festival and as in the previous year, Buddhist Teachers and students observed sil on this day.
124 Buddhist students and 34 Buddhist Teachers participated in the above programme.
The sil programme was conducted at the school auditorium. The Programme  comprised dhamma sermons, Buddhist talks, dhamma discussions,meditation, and Buddha puja.
Donations comprising medicine and food items were gifted to the Victoria Home at Rajagiriya.
                                  
                                  
B)    PROGRAMME FOR HINDUs
45 students and 04 teachers visited Kathireshan Kovil at Bambalapitya for pooja and prasadam.  Then they visited Sri Anjeneyar Temple attired in Traditional  Hindu costume.

C) PROGRAMME FOR CHRISTIANS
The Christian programme was based on the theme  “Closer Walk with Jesus’ and was conducted at Scott hall Kolpetty.  It comprised an opening prayer, hymns, a message delivered by the Pastor of the AOG, a Bible Quiz and games. The Christian religious programme concluded with a tea break.

D )ISLAMIC PROGRAMME
The Religious Day for Muslim children was celebrated at the centre for Islamic studies. It commenced with a lecture on “Science and Islam”, followed by students making posters on the theme ‘knowledge”.
 Forty five children participated in the Islamic Programme.

Library Day 2014

The aim of the Library Day is to focus students’ attention on the library and encourage their reading habits, improve their awareness of library work, and educate them on how to make use of the Library.
The Library Day was organized for students from Year 5, 6 and Form I on the 7th of February 2014, by the Librarians, Ms. Nuradha Boteju and Madusha Weerasinghe.
Prior to the Library Day, students performed the following events.
•        Year 5 students enacted scenes from the drama “The Mixed up Fairy Tale”
•        Year 6studrnts recited a poem entitled “Library”, composed by them.
•        Form I, Students delivered a prepared speech on “The Importance of Reading”
The highlight of the Library Day was the portrayal of numerous fairy tale characters and other characters depicted in books, by Primary and middle-school children. It was a most enjoyable event.
Another important event in the agenda was the creative writing workshop   conducted by the British Council.
Mrs. Shiroma Benaragama, The Chief Librarian of the British Council, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour on this occasion.
