Another Memorable Language Day @ STAFFORD

The Language Day of Stafford International School was held on the 5th of March 2014, under the distinguished presence of the Principal and the Board of Directors.

It was a most memorable occasion in which the young Staffordians could show their talents on stage to the distinguished audience.True to the spirit of a school of repute , there were presentations in multiple languages  – Sinhala, Tamil, French and English.

The Sinhala Section of the Language Day, which was organized by Mrs. Nirodha Thilakaratne, was presented first. The Students of Form II & Form III commenced the day’s programme with a lively mix of three sinhala songs famous for their significance to the Sri lankan culture. It was followed by an excellent speech delivered by Agbo pethiyagoda and Ruhan De Silva of Form I, who proved themselves of being more than just mere 11 year olds.

Devin Ganegoda,Anudi Bandara, Thisari Perera and Vomini Jayasinghe took turns in announcing the day’s programme. Their unique skills also added colour to the event. Next was a hilarious stage play performed by the students of Form IV. Last but not least was the heart warming sinhala song called “Pahana thiya Budu saaduta himidiriye” by Janani & Gehan Vithanage , who with their incredible talents filled the auditorium with emotion. It was definitely a splendid performance. The Tamil, French and English performances that followed were equally lively and interesting. They were very skillfully managed to grab the attention of each and every person seated in front of them.

The Tamil Section Started with a dance performed By Niroshnee Ranjan, Nithusharini Vijaykumar, Thevanthi Thevanesan & Mahetiri Mahendranayagam of Form IV. It was followed by a hilarious drama done by the students of Form I & Form III.

The only performance of French Section performed by Form I Students, the song called “Arc enciel” by Alain de  lait. This song was played with an orchestra.

This day could definitely not have been possible if not for the efforts put in by the Vice Principal, Mr. M N Dharmaratne who took all his time to make sure that everything was in perfect.

The Language Day concluded with joy and with every promise of reappearing next year , much to the delight of the spectators as well as the performers. It was definitely a memorable day.
