SPORTS – for the academic year 2013/2014

Students are given every encouragement to participate in sports . The Inter House Sports Meet was the highlight of the sports calendar for the year under review. The Annual Inter House Athletic Championship was held on 12 ofth October 2013with Mr Niluka Karunarathne gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Rifle Shooting

Koen Odayar and Praneetta Vasudevan won the distinction of being selected to represent Sri Lanka at the Youth Asian Games in August, 2013 in Nanjing, China. Koen Odayar also participated at the Kuwait Shooting Grand Prix, while Praneetta Vasudevan will be participating at the Commonwealth Games in August, 2014. Taryana Odayar, Koen Odayar and Praneetta Vasudevan were selected to represent Sri Lanka at the IMSSU World Championships to be held in Czechoslovakia in july, 2014. At the Sri Lanka Shooting Nationals 2013, Praneetta Vasudevan and Koen Odayar won first places in the 10m air rifle womens' open category and the 10m air rifle mens' junior category, respectively.

It is with pride we mention that Anishra Odayar, Praneetha Vasudevan and Krishnetta Vasudevan have been selected to the national junior pool for the Asian Youth Sports Festival to be held in Hambantota in 2017. Further, Anishra Odayar and Krishnetta Vasudevan have also been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the Junior International Rifle and Pistol Events to be held in Poland in December this year.


At the Inter-international school Karate Tournament held on the 20th of September 2013, two of our students, Kavya Jayasinghe and Dulain Ratnayake bagged gold medals. They also won the distinction of being awarded the prize for the best performance at the Sri Lanka Schools Junior Karate Championship, 2014.


Dimithri Kariyawasm secured the 34th place from among 1000 competitors at the 77th Annual 2 Mile Under Sea Swimming Meet-2014, conducted by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union.

Our school Annual swimming Meet was held the Royal College swimming pool on the 30th 0f June, 2014. Taryan Odayar, our Head Prefect for year2012/ 2013, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.


The last cricket tournament our school took part in was the under 13 Quadrangular Cricket Tournament at which our team beat Asian International School and gave a strong competition to the Gateway Team, though beaten by them.


Stafford International School organised a mini-tennis tournament for the first time, on …June 2014 in which, Overseas School and Asian International School participated along with Stafford Students. It was a novel experience for our young students who participated with much enthusiasm.
