Powered by a 68 ball 53 with five boundaries and five sixes by Pravan Williams, Stafford International School registered back to back wins in their annual big match against the British School at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. These renowned private schools in Colombo garnered the attention of many sporting enthusiasts in the country, with the remarkable talents displayed on the day.
The British School was restricted to 113 runs in 37.4 overs. Pradyun Saikia was the only batsman to defy the bowlers scoring 59 off 89 balls with nine hits to the ropes and one over. Shiram Shyamsunder captured three wickets while Shevan Jayarathna and Elesh Umagiliya captured two wickets each.
The Stafford International batsmen knocked up the winning runs in 24.1 overs with seven wickets in hand to register back to back wins in the annual encounter between these two legendary international schools in Colombo.
The Stafford International team led by Shriram Shyamsunder comprised Sampras de Silva, Avesh Polonowita, Elesh Umagiliya, Mayukhe Peiris (wk), Ahamed Noordeen, Nadith Gunawardena, Pravan James Williams, Shiven Jayarathna, Jaden Chisty and Prethan Ramesh. Sanjay Rathnakumar, Disal Fernando, Ashendra Bandaranayaike and Tenushka Nanayakkara were reserves.
The British School team led by Kavinda Subasinghe comprised of, Rahul Chaullapallai (wk), Pradyun Saikia, Salman Akbarally, Dillon David, Senuka Dharmarathna, Vishinu Praveen, Thishan Kahanduwalaarachchi, Theekshana Nalinna, Rashven Senanayake and Aaryan Amleen while Akitha Gunadasa, Delshan Premarathna, Sharin Jamadin and Thareen Amaleean were the reserves.
