After a torturous, seemingly never-ending six years of waiting for another album by amazing British singer/songwriter, Adele, fans can finally rejoice in the grace of her latest release, Easy on Me.
This piano ballad was an immediate success commercially, earning the Spotify and Amazon Music records for most streamed song in a day or week. Some have indeed argued that this song doesn’t reach the standards of her previous singles, however, personally, I felt it was quite a masterpiece. Released on October 15th, the song took the world by storm and many immediately praised this song. The song was extremely emotional, each word tugging at my heart strings. The lyrics itself were quite fitting. The first verse itself had me sold. Merely the pure strength which radiates from her voice is able to bring any soul to life.
The accompanied music video was also quite dramatic and exhilarating. Directed by Canadian filmmaker, Xavier Dolan, the video was truly a masterpiece. The video shows a somewhat continuation to Adele’s “Hello” music video in which she enters a fully furnished house. In contrast, this video shows her vacating said house, sheet music trailing behind while she drives her truck.
“Easy on Me” is the first song to introduce her new album “30” which will be released on November 19th 2021. The song is quite a strong comeback from the singer which fans have been eagerly awaiting. The leading message in the stunning single is about the singer divorcing her ex-husband, Simon Konecki. While speaking to British Vogue, she expressed the song as an ode to her son who went through the divorce with her. “I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily dismantled his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness.”
Adele’s pipes are stronger than any metal in the world and we cannot wait for the rest of her upcoming album.
