The Book Club of Stafford prides itself on helping their members embark on a literary journey which allows them to discover and engage with a variety of books and further their reading development. Their latest event was no exception to this goal.
The club’s first book discussion commenced on the 30th of September 2021 at 4pm, on the Zoom platform. This program was hosted by the club’s Teacher-in-Charge, Ms. Michelle Herft.
The book selected to be discussed was “Matilda” by Roald Dahl which many members had previously enjoyed. A pdf of the novel was sent to our members before the discussion so they could read—or re-read— it in preparation. Armed with literary knowledge, several students attended the event.
The discussion was interactive and consisted of members responding to questions our host, Ms. Michelle, presented. Different aspects of the book were acknowledged, allowing members to share their ideas. It was amazing to see each individual present their unique opinions in reply to the discussion prompts!
From conversations on which character was the most interesting to read about to various plot points that our members found notable, the session was extremely enjoyable. We anticipate more events like this organized by the Book Club in the future and can’t wait to witness their next steps!
