I went on a trip to Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya during the last school holidays. I went there with my family and my little sister. We went in our jeep. We left home at 07:00 am and we reached to Anuradhapura around 05:00 pm. We stayed at “Heritage Hotel” and the next morning, we worshipped at the Sri Maha Bodhi and visited the Ruwanweliseya. We saw Sandahiru Seya, Lovamahapaya, and Elara Sohona too. The next day, we visited Isurumuniya, Lankathilaka, Abeyagiriya, Jethawanaramaya, Thuparamaya, Mirissa Wetiya, Samadi pilima, moonstone, Yoda Ela, Kuttam pokuna, Tissa Wewa, Nuwara Wewa, Abaya Wewa and Sangamiththa Tomb.
We stayed two days in Anuradhapura and the next day, we went to Polonnaruwa to visit ancient ruins. We stayed at “Sudu Araliya Hotel”. We saw Royal Place, Hatadage, Atadage, Vatadage, Sathmahal Prasada, Dalada Maligawa, Nissankalatha Mandapaya, Image house, Kumara Pokuna, Court of King Parakumba and many more. We stayed two days in Polonnaruwa.
On the fifth day we went to visit Sigiriya and Dambulla Rock Temple. We stayed at “Kandalama Hotel”. Sigiriya is the “Eight wonder of the world”. The palace and fortress complex are recognized as one of the finest examples of ancient urban planning. The ruin is surrounded by moats, walls, gardens, ponds and other structures. We visited to see the Cobra Hood cave, Lion Gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes. Luckily, I manage to climb on to the top of Sigiriya rock. We admired the natural beauty of the area. We took many photographs. We ate delicious food at the hotel.
It was an unforgettable trip. Thanks to my loving dad and my family.
